What does it feel like to fly over planet Earth?

A video showing what it feels like to fly over planet Earth.  Imagine this is what a mobile suit pilot sees as he flies over the Earth...

Perhaps when Char piloted his Zaku II above earth's orbit, that was when he thought of one of his famous quote, "I believe in the rebirth of a humanity that lives in space. However, in order to develop all of us into Newtypes someone has to shoulder all the evils of humanity."
A time-lapse taken from the front of the International Space Station as it orbits our planet at night. This movie begins over the Pacific Ocean and continues over North and South America before entering daylight near Antarctica. Visible cities, countries and landmarks include (in order) Vancouver Island, Victoria, Vancouver, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles. Phoenix. Multiple cities in Texas, New Mexico and Mexico. Mexico City, the Gulf of Mexico, the Yucatan Peninsula, El Salvador, Lightning in the Pacific Ocean, Guatemala, Panama, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Lake Titicaca, and the Amazon. Also visible is the earths ionosphere (thin yellow line), a satellite (55sec) and the stars of our galaxy. Raw data was downloaded from;

  1. Can you tell me which series/movie this quote comes from? I'm slowly making my way through the various UC Gundam series (including that abominable ZZ) and I have yet to see him say such an iconic quote!

  2. That footage is AMAZING!
    But I think you're right...I think that IS what a mobile suit pilot would see in space...So beautiful...Makes the fighting worth it, I'd say.
