  1. lol, I remember that scene! No wonder they copied it, as Setsuna was being a badass with that move!

  2. It already seemed so familiar.

  3. Oh who cares if it's scene re-use, it's already well know gundam's notorious for that and who can blame them with scenes like this one. Not to mention it's sometimes hard and costly to make ALL new scenes when using grunts and multiple on scene characters so scene re-use is necessary to cut costs, specially when there is a blank line art (the stick figures) from an old shot they can use.

  4. It's an identical pose, but not the exact same scene. This is similar to the "Sunrise Sword Pose" where it's the same pose drawn by different artists. The backgrounds are different, the art is different, the animation is different etc... the only thing identical is the pose. This isn't a reuse of the same art assets, just the same basic presentation.

The latest Shakugan no Shana season had a near identical shot to above as well. That doesn't make it a 00 rip-off though. (And this is speaking as a 00 fan). An example of blatant scene reuse would be Gundam SEED and Destiny, where they take the same basic animated scene and replace the mechs in it. This is no such endeavor.

    1. Addendum: Also, Gundam is notorious for using stock footage in-series. But Gundam has never ever used stock footage from another series in the franchise and retouched it for something else.

  5. It's an homage, just like the few reminiscent poses from Gundam Unicorn episode 2 in a couple of other episodes.

A lot of people don't get that.

  6. Not sure why people making so much fuss about this. re-using composition, always happens in animation industry or film industry in general. Even Disney and million dollars movie like Transformer still used stock footage.

  7. Everyone bashes this until they realize that animation is difficult. With short deadlines and quick turnarounds, you have to cut corners to finish the product on time. If you still think that is not a good enough excuse, you should try finishing a 25 minute animation in one week.

  8. The general action of the scene was copied but you can see it's not like stock footage where they digitally overlay mechs onto an identical scene. The pose of the AGE-2 Double Bullet is much more dynamic and exaggerated and the scale of the shot is different from the 00 scene.

It's a good scene in both 00 and AGE though, though honestly I think the AGE-2 Double Bullet is easily the more badarse of the two gundams

    1. I beg to differ double bullet has not even done things that could be called bad-ass. Exia already has proven itself to be the most bad-ass of the OO gundams even more so then the OO itself. The stunts double bullet pulled was not bad-ass, but over powering (double bullet is overpowered but okay for the age series because its for a younger age), something OO Raiser does good at, which is fitting since age-2 kinda reminds me of OO Raiser, if its bad-ass spallow is the only gundam in age as off now that can compete with exia. Which makes me think will age-3 be OO qan[t] like or follow the ZZ route.

    2. Hilarious. Exia and 00 Raiser are pretty much the definition of over powering bordering on invicible, yet they're for mature adults such as yourself.

    3. LOL yeah i agree with the guy above even though Exia/OO are not my favorite gundams i can say that they are probably some of the most overpowered gundams via GN drives i mean they got 2 drives down now lets strap on another 6 and its unbeatable, quanta already proved it went into supernatural form though that.

    4. well, the overpower in Exia is due to it's tech within the universe metaphysics, and when EF acquired Tau drives that overpower deflated. Age-2 's double bullet's overpower comes from the plot hax that is the AGE system, like Jesus Yamato.
So at least Exia is believable whilst AGE feels forced.

    5. I agree with you that the scene may be a copy, but certainly not an identical scene. I don't get why everyone is having such a big fuss about it. The animation for that episode was good, there was no doubt about it. Plus, please cut that crap about gundam being overpowered or borderline god, IT'S AN ANIME. It's a way where it allows imagination to be put in front of us so we can enjoy, not freaken apply real life physics to it. If you really want to do that; get up, leave your room, and go outside.

For those who constantly argues what Gundam is more bad ass or more powerful, it just shows how immature most of these comments are. Do you honestly think Gundam is all about power? It's strong because fans like it! We like it because it's human nature; we want to watch something that is strong because it allows our imagination to run free. Gundam allows us to express our imagination, and at the same time, relate to our own personal lifes.

  9. AGE-2's beam sabers vs beam sabers seems to make more sense than Exia's swords vs beam sabers.

  10. i think that the same mobile suit designer for 00 did the designs for Age, so i can see why this would show up.

  11. Yeah, I suppose we can go on whining how bad AGE is for being childish and stuff, but you gotta admit that since you do follow the story already, you should just chop off and watch the series without remorse. It's not like you're having 10 years taken of your ID card or anything, it's just a damn cartoon for Christ sake.

On top of that, we do have constant complaining and even this picture now. So what, goddamit, I did notice that too, that the scene was 90 percent ripped of from 'The Broken Wings' ep 21 I think, but I'm not running about like a mad man and trying to prove my point. AGE is to some extent childish and I'm perfectly fine with that as long as it can entertain me. Most of you, if not all, watch or have watched Disney movies and they're childish all right, but did you not enjoy them? Even this day and age? End of story.

  12. @G.G.
Why do you keep posting these? I don't see the point. While you do have every right to post what content you want in your blog, I don't see anything remotely productive coming out of this other than encouraging more flaming.

  13. I looked at that episode preview a day ago, i swore ive seen it somewhere, AHA! man i love AGE and 00, nothing wrong with that. Animation's a bitch, as aforementioned by so many above. Heck i'd challenge anyone to come up with a decent looking frame/still that can match up to the scene above in less than 3 hours. It really is that difficult.

I havent gotten back into AGE since ep 19. Missing out on all the awesomeness at the moment (Grodek's return and XO, Double Bullet's O'pd montage)

Man what can i say, at first really didnt like the DB (kinda like i didnt like Sinanju, 00 Qant, Strike Freedom, etc) looked too plain and generic to me.

Its a combo of 00 raiser/Zeta/VDash/Flag. So glad a "Wings of Light" is back without looking gimmicky (technically those are saber wings. SABER WINGS!) but once Sunrise/Bamco show you a massive gunpla promotion slot (im looking at you Freedom appearing in Alaska just in time to save the day)you just cannot help but look back at what you missed.

was gonna get DB in HG but now eagerly anticipating a MG release. I sincerely hope they do it all on one albeit pricey boxset. But Bandai being Bandai, we're much as likely to see a "clear" version of MG Blitz 'Mirage Colloid' edition announced RIGHT AFTER MG Blitz is released sometime in June

  14. is it just me or the older series (00) looks more detailed than the newer series which is AGE?

    1. AGE definitely has lower quality compared to 00... probably because if they made it similarly to 00/Unicorn/SEED Remaster, the kids wouldn't probably watch this...

my guess in a technical point of view that the wavelengths used in AGE are more suited for viewing of a younger audience...

  15. It's called a TRIBUTE.

  16. In terms of the animation scenes it looks like we're slowly moving from the the territory of homage to the territory of spraying a car and reselling it to the owner. Maybe AGE can't help it like it's got kleptomania or something, but when you supposedly pay so much tribute to past series' you'd start to get suspicious and think it's just choreographically bankrupt.

    1. Seed and Unicorn have already crossed that line, so it's nothing new.

  17. You can see the Age-2 is bending it's torso more. Not really a problem.

  18. See! 00 n Age is similar in many ways

  19. Still, I want to see Age do Freedom's full on spam lock-on shots. XD
