  2. This is shaping up to be the best release of the Nu Gundam to date, I can't wait for this. Sure glad I never bought the old MG of it...now hopefully it comes with that display stand.

  4. why is MG hi-nu there? 2.0 release?

    ReplyDelete
  5. It would be awesome if it comes with some beam effect with the funnel! I would like to know more about this release, please keep us updated with more info and pictures!

  6. That is a sexy inner frame there. Also, is that a light up eye gimmick I see?
I hope that the stand is included too, cause it would be a instant buy for me if it did

  7. wait i see led there, is that true ?

  8. Maybe someone can shed some light, but they have the ver ka Nu next to the MG hi-nu. They look about the same height. I remember my MG nu dwarfed the MG hi-nu and it had a dense and heavy weight to it like mg The-O. I was disappointed when I got the MG hi-nu because of its size. So, was the original MG Nu accurate to its dimensions? Because I was very surprised when hi-nu was tiny compared to it.

    1. Same story with the HGUC renditions. I was pretty miffed about it so I checked it out. MAHQ lists the Nu Gundam with a head-height of 22 meters and the Hi-Nu at 20 meters. Not sure how well those numbers translated into the 1/100 scale.

Until recently, I understood the Hi-Nu to be an alternate interpretation of the Nu Gundam, not an upgrade. Same goes with the Nightingale to Sazabi. Pretty sure I was wrong. Never actually read Beltorchika's Children.

    2. You'd be hard pressed to know that 2 meters makes little difference in 1/100 scale. I actually have my MG Crossbone Gundam X-1 (height = 15.9 meters) next to my MG RX-79G Ground Gundam (height = 18.0 meters) and the difference is quite minuscule.

      Delete
    3. well in 1/100 scale that simply means 200cm / 100 = 2cm
if the scale is 100% accurate there should be 2cm difference between the two

  9. Oh i hope it's knees would bend at least more than 90 degrees..

  10. I think it can... since the Hi-Nu can do it.. Bandai should be able to do it as well... I hope

  11. The detail vomit is less evident in plastic, but then the photos are kinda blown-out. Still not a fan. All those jagged ends and sharp panel lines unnecessarily connect the Nu Gundam to the Gundercorn *ahem* Unicorn Gundam. I'm a fan of simpler forms with cleaner detail (look at any one of Katoki's 0083 or OZ designs; they tingle my funny places.)

Great geometry overall and the proportions are very Katoki. I love the inner frame; especially the spherical joints at the ankles. Great look.

And while I think some of the detail placement is clever -take the break-point at the knee- the rest just pollutes the design form and makes for too much of a departure from the Izubuchi original. While I understand that Katoki's made this one his own, I guess I'm just not really into his style of late. Weird jagged bits here, arbitrary stacks of detail and geometric forms there. I long for the functional realism of his Sentinel and Stardust days.

    1. I've noticed a lot of Katoki's later designs seem to recycle a similar look to the unicorn. Maybe just me though...

      Delete
    2. I agree. You could argue that all that detail on the Unicorn is functional, (since, you know, every surface panel splits open and stuff) but I'm just not feeling it when he throws all that shit onto whats supposed to be a production unit like the Re-ZEL or Anksha. Simpler is better. It's really only a problem with his later Federal Forces designs.

  12. what runner is that one the first pic ?

is it going to have an RG style hand inner frame (seen from the tiny bits of last pic) ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. hmm not sure about PG.. my PG SF dont have any runner like that. it seems that the arms have the RG style skeleton connected directly with the palm and finger.. CMIIW

      Delete
    2. sorry i mean arms in the first post (>.<)

      Delete
    3. PG did do it first. You only have PG SF which went to those crappy "build em yourself" fingers. All PGs up until 00 had pre-molded and fully articulated fingers.

      Delete
    4. @anon ah yes after i looked at my unbuild PG rouge, it does have the same finger runner. lol. maybe PG SF is indeed just a bigger size MG T_T

      Delete
    5. Its more along the line of the Perfect grade style hands, but looks more like how the PG strike/rouge and Aliestrike where put togeather.

      Delete
  13. lol amuro doesn't do gay hand gestures to control his funnels he ain't gay-fairy fruity pebbles in the morning kio you know..

  14. pg style hand awesome

    ReplyDelete
  15. now THIS is MASTER GRADE..... honestly I'm not really a fan of Nu Gundam, but seeing those inner frame and that PG-style manipulator I might get this one :P

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Agreed. I firmly believe that this is the new benchmark for future Master Grades.

  16. Freakign AWESOME! ALl that detail makes it look like a 1/100 RG, which is just fine in my book.

I recently built the Old MG of Nu, and the entire chest is made of basically around 4 pieces, and that's pretty paethetic. Here's a lot more detail and structure, plus all those decals and posing options! Can't wait for this one!

    ReplyDelete
  17. i didn't buy the old mg nu so i was wondering, does this one use the same inner frame or a new one ?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Take a guess.
You think they would be showing off an old inner frame so much?

This thing is completely new from the ground up, doesn't share a single part with the old Nu.

      Delete
  18. Replies
    1. Mini PG was RG IMO

      Delete
    2. Not really. With a PG you build the entire frame and the hands are completely articulated.
      RG frames are pre-built.
This is the closest the a PG quality as we can get in a smaller scale.

  19. One Master Grade to rule them all.

  20. If this comes with that action base with those things that hold up the fin funnels, i'm going to want this kit quite badly...
I love the Nu Gundam design and i don't mind this version of it as the old MG looks horrible

Bandai is going to end up taking alot of my money over the next few months it seems....
    T.T

    ReplyDelete
  21. yea, if the base & the Funnel holders are included it is instant buy for me!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Guys, check out the inner side of Funnel, it seems like it can attack some kind of beam effect parts! Maybe the beam affect parts for MG Hi-nu's funnel can also be attached to this MG Nu! Also, it has LED for the head, and fully articulated fingers! It's a must buy I say!!! Bandai has putting so much effort into this release!

    ReplyDelete
  23. This IMO is what a 2012 MG kit should look like......the Marasai was such a bummer on details but I still got it cause it was a MG marasai, I'll be looking forward to this and MG tallgeese!!!

    ReplyDelete
  24. please Bandai, just take my money now

  25. look perfect but the front skirt seems kinda big...

  29. Bandai, just shut up and take my money!!!!!
This MG looks like a 3.0 or 2.5 to me, defiantly a different direction they are taking for MG and I hope they will make their future MG like this! Great Job Bandai!

    1. Seems like they'll be using these in the future, look at the plate for the hands: it says "1/100 MP1"

  30. Impressive! PG-type hands for MG. Nice!

  31. 1/100 scale PG. looks fantastic. this is a must-have kit for me..:D

  32. Why are there clear parts in the leg's inner frame? just curious.

    ReplyDelete

    1. yeah, noticed that too. wonder what it's for

      Delete
    2. same here. wonder what the purpose of the clear part on the legs and hands inner frame. not sure what the purpose though, because it will be covered by the outer frame parts

    3. I think it's part of the Psycho-Frame of the v Gundam. Remember it has Psycho-Frame like the Unicorn Gundam (albeit it's not a full Psycho-Frame unit).

  33. The shot with the double sided funnels on the backpack opens the possibility of a full funnel version with a second kit or possibly some Hi-Nu funnels... Beautiful

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It only means it can do the Nu Gundam double fin funnel type which i think is only a variation of the original Nu gundam.
The possibility of another MG Hi-Nu is pretty low. Rather, it's most likely that another MG sazabi is in store for the future.

  34. Hajime Katoki and Bandai...thanks for the Christmas surprise.

  35. I only want the funnel holders. Hope they release a separate funnel holder's kit.

  36. Fully articulated manipulators!! Just when you thought BD had scaled back their MG focus they dropp this bad boy! Exciting :) Ver. Ka?!?! Yes Please :O

  37. I miss the warning stickers on the gundam in the boxart

    ReplyDelete
  38. I can see how RG nu will look like :|
but will bandai release a RG nu? i hope they will :)

    ReplyDelete
  39. Let's see:

    1. LEDs for Eyes and Cockpit.
    2. [PG] articulations for Hands.
    3. Great details of Inner Frame.
    4. Great details of the Armors, white and gray-ish color variations just like [RG].
    5. Water-slide Decals.

This would be ONE of the best of [MG] Bandai ever created.

  40. I don't have the original Nu Gundam but how it it for weight issues with the funnels?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. In the original Nu gundam some pieces of the feet and the croth section are made of diecast to improve its stability even with funnels.

      Delete
  41. Original Nu got over the weight issue by having actual real metal die cast parts in the legs and waist to weigh it down.

I don`t know if this has the same.

    ReplyDelete
  42. was going to skip this one since i have the original mg nu with the evolved resin conversion kit, which imho looks better than this ver ka.
BUT, with all of this nice features, led, detailed hands, internel frame, etc., its almost impossible to let this one pass. damn you bandai!

    ReplyDelete
  43. still wondering if it would have beam effect parts for it's fin funnels :/ hope it does

    ReplyDelete
  44. This might be my favorite Master Grade kit, and yet it's not even released yet. Some areas are a little rough such as the chest area. The main purpose it looks to missing some detail was so that Bandai could show us where exactly the LED gimmick is going to be. Of course they showed us again with a seperate head display, with the LED gimmick being below in a compartment at the base of the neck. Now the MG OO Gundam had this gimmick which I.M.P. it was poorly executed, yeah it was the first MG to have as light up eye gimmick, but it cost the inner frame of the head greatly. Hopefully on this new MG Nu gundam ver. Ka. the head a has a inner frame with almost if not better 2.0 quality. I like the look of the cockpit as well, nice and clear. I hope that the LED unit is included in this kit as well. There was one this I was dreading to find out about this kit when the prototype was revealed, it was the hands. BUT gladly I'm greatly pleased with what Bandai has done here. Fully articulated hands, down to every knuckle just like a Perfect Grade kit. I cannot stand the new interchangable finger gimmick in these new master grades. This feature NEEDS to be aborted. If bandai can pull this off in the Nu Gundam, why not other MG's ? The size would obviously be the biggest problem, atleast for the smaller gundams, and other mobile suits alike. I'd like to say we will be getting the special action base, because it has Amuro's symbol as the actual base and it has articulated arms to display the funnels. As to whether or not if we are getting effect parts who knows, but I think we'll get them too. The over all design of the Nu Gundam in Ka. view is most impressive. The armor panels of beautiful. The innerframe is ridicoulus with detail. I can't wait to see all of the features packed into this kit once I own one and build it myself. The Master Grade RX-93 Nu Gundam ver. Ka. will be a very great kit, so far from this point. I will be waiting to purchase this no matter how much, $70-$80 is a lot for a MG but for the Nu Gundam it is exceptable.

    1. With that being the Nu gundam, the new features such as the fully articulated hands, the special action base, light up feature and the looks that it would come with a waterslide decal sheet; that makes it all worth the money. And if it would have an awesome inner frame quality, the price would be cheap for the model kit xD.

  45. Just noticed the Shield is actually plane with no Amuro unicorn decal?????? WUTTTT?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Take your eyes off the box art and look at the actual model....or the decal sheet for that matter. The shield decal is there.

      Delete
  46. Oh wow. Between the funnel stand and the individually articulated manipulators this is officially a must buy now.

    ReplyDelete
  47. The action base seems to be different/unique from what I've ever seen. Its either because to show case or it's to be included in the kit. Even if it didn't come with one I would buy another one just because it's the nu gundam, RIGHT!

    ReplyDelete
  48. FIX buy it for my own birthday present!

    ReplyDelete
  49. I like the interchangeble hands. They were easier to paint. With the pgs, i couldnt find a more creative way other than to paint the hands, wait for it to cure, bend the knuckles and paint spray again. Hated that. But they do look pretty snazy though.

    ReplyDelete
  50. That Nu Gundam is not just for show! It looks so beautiful!

    1. lol, I was hoping someone would make that reference! Loving the way this MG is shaping up.

    1. what? LED/batteries are sold separately? Q.Q

      Delete
    2. LEDs are stupid, 99% of people who have kits with LEDs only use them immediately after getting the kit and then never again.

Only magpie like people who like shiny things care about LEDs.

      Delete
    3. do you know where to buy the LED for this model?

  52. As awesome as this looks, this pic has me the most excited:

Sadly, the kit will probably not be able to do this without buying extra parts....

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. no idea, but with all the effort they seem to be putting into this release it would seem a shame not to include a few extra little things.

      Delete
    2. I'm pretty sure they'll include those few extra parts. they did it in the HGUC why not in this MG? they seem to be putting a lot of effort in this release. so I'm pretty positive.

  53. Can anyone give me an opinion on this image where his knees are bent.
do you think it can bend farther? :/

    Replies
    1. look real close at Nu Gundams right knee joint, do you see how the pistons are fully out? im going to guess and say that only the top joint is bent in that pose. i would assume that the lower joint will give it a much bigger bend

      Delete
    2. Man, i hope you're right, its just that the back of his knees reminds me of the MG unicorn var ka's back-knee which hindered its pose-ability.

      Delete
    3. To be fair though that was because it had the transformation gimmick, which meant that there was less room for the inner frame, and thus some articulation was lost. I am very hopeful that this will be the best MG release to date. And if you want some encouragement look at MG Sinanju's legs, when you bend the top joint the lower half of the leg almost hits the top.

      Delete
    4. ooh. ok man, i have faith in bandai's engineers so im expcting the best out of this.Who knows, we may have more surprises in store, they havent showcased his beam sabers, and im still hoping for some funnel fect parts. either way, this is a MUST BUY! xD
